SYNOPSIS
Martin asks Tim to drive him into the country to find some
glink, a basic ore which Earth hasn't discovered yet. Martin
needs the metal for the repair of his spaceship and eventual
return to Mars. However, Tim doesn't want to make trip on
his day off.
Tim changes his mind when he meets a lovely new neighbor,
named Jennifer Richmond, and suggests that she, her little
brother, Martin and he go on a picnic. With a bit of coaxing
from Steve, the brother, the four drive to Sunset Mountain.
After lunch, Martin excuses himself to look for the glink with
Steve. The conversation is directed toward Mars by the
space-minded youngster. Martin tells him he heard that
gravity on Mars is so low that the people on that planet
can scoot up mountains like flies.
Steve recalls this after Martin disappears. The boy confronts
Sunset Mountain and begins to climb it. He reaches a point
almost to the top, when he gets stuck. Martin persuades
Tim to climb the mountain with the help of the Martian's
levitator. Tim, anxious to make a hit with Jennifer, agrees
and succeeds in rescuing the boy. Tim, believing he ascended
and descended the steep slope only because Martin's levitator
was trained on him, is horrfied to learn the mechanism broke
at the very start of his climb.
