SYNOPSIS

When Mrs. Brown decides to take up the fiddle, Martin hears
a dissonance that short circuits his nervous system and causes him to
become transparent. In an effort to alter the instrument which
produces this horrible sound, Martin and Tim become involved with the
creator of the violin, a pathetic fiddle-maker named Antonio Amalfi.
As if Amalfi's inability to create a workmanlike violin weren't enough
of a problem, his son Johnny is leaving the firm of Amalfi and Sons to
become a salesman and the formerly great name in violin-making will
expire.

Touched by the man's plight, Martin conspires to teach the
man the secret of great violin playing. However, while in the act of
helping him, Martin is inadvertently exposed to the playing of one of
the horrible violins. Trapped and desperate for an explanation he
confesses that his transparent self is really the ghost of Stradivari
who has come back in order to tell the great secret to Amalfi.

Armed with this knowledge, the old Italian is able to
convince his son to stay and carry on the great name. Thanks to
Martin, there will always be an Amalfi and Son.
