SYNOPSIS
Tim is shocked to see clouds of steam pouring from
Martin's ears as a result of his most recent encounter with Lieutenant
Brennan, who has been coming around too often lately to visit Mrs.
Brown. Martin explains this is how a Martian blows his top, but this
could be disastrous if it happened in the presence of Brennan.
An ideal therapy is house painting, which Martin is
about to do for Mrs. Brown, when he discovers that Brennan has
also volunteered his services. Martin, frustrated by Brennan's
human style of painting, has to duck out of sight to steam. The
painting degenerates into a competition right out of Tom Sawyer
with Brennan continually getting the better of Martin -- that
is until Brennan tries to go too far and strains his back. He
ends up flat on Tim's bed where his stiff back might keep him
for a day or a month.
But Brennan as an impossible houseguest and a baby-
taking Mrs. Brown to nurse him, Uncle Martin finds himself
popping off hourly like "Old Faithful". Quickly dehydrating,
Martin is forced to work out a drastic electronic cure for his
malady. He'll have to improvise, he tells Tim, using a make-
shift hook-up of household kitchen items. However, Brennan
overhears part of the plan and misconstrues it for the plan of
a jealous suitor to do away with Brennan, the rival. He decides
to play possum and trap Martin.
But Brennan catches Martin wearing a football helmet,
standing on a stove with one foot in a frying pan, a pipe
coming out of one ear and connected to the refrigerator, a
power line running from the other ear to a wall plug and a TV
aerial in his hand. When Brennan demands to know what the
devil's going on. Martin tells all about the steam and Mars,
everything. He knows that Brennan will think he's dealing with
a harmless nut. And that's exactly what Brennan thinks. He
finally puts some thing over on that insufferable Brennan.
