Alan Hewitt SYNOPSIS Martin's plan to hitchhike to Mars by attaching his spaceship to a projected Martian launch from Vandenberg Air Force Base runs into trouble when he discovers that Mrs. Brown is capable of reading all his top-secret thoughts via her new electric bed which is serving as a transmitter to all the electronic impulses emitted by his brain. His desire to have Mrs. Brown leave the house and not sleep in the telltale bed only backfires when Lieutenant Brennan volunteers to stay overnight and take care of household chores in her absence. With Brennan sleeping in the bed and being in a position to read Martin's thoughts, Martin is forced to make final calculations on his inter- planetary trip and at the same time turn the electric bed into an uncontrollable, unpredictable, bucking bronco that finally tosses Brennan not only out of bed but out the window and onto Martin's spaceship before he can manage his take-off. The planned departure never succeeds but at least Martin and Tim havc not had to say goodbye for the last time.
