SYNOPSIS

Annabelle asks Martin to help her with a science report for school
based on a new theory advanced by Prof. Newton Jennings, the
space scientist. The theory, as reported in the press, states that
there cannot be any life on Mars except on the most primitive
level of amoeba or jellyfish. Martin agrees to help Annabelle with
the report.

Martin helps Annabelle with the report, explaining Prof. Jennings'
theory but also criticizing it. The following day Annabelle returns
from school with bad news. She wrote the report from Martin' s
point of view, expressing the possibility of an advanced civilization
on Mars and was failed for it.

Nothing Martin says convinces Prof. Jennings other wise and the
final humiliation comes when he inquires about Martin's education
and he is unable to refer to a single school from which he graduated.
Annabelle reveals her disillusionment in Martin by telling him she's
going to rewrite the report -- the teacher's way.

Martin decides to expose Jennings and his theory, but discovers that
Jennings is a gentle, shy man lacking in social poise but brilliant as
a scientist. Realizing that Jennings may be wrong about Mars, but
ahead of his times in other respects, Martin changes his mind and
gives Jennings a clue about advanced forms of life on Mars with
"Pauli's Exclusion Principle."

Jennings reissues a new statement about life on Mars and changes
Annabelle's grade to an "A," and everyone comes out on top.
