SYNOPSIS
Tim insists that Martin, who has worked his way
out of a ticket for over parking by manipulating the
meter's register, apply for a driver's license.
At the Motor Vehicle Bureau, Martin becomes concerned
when he observes that applicants are fingerprinted. He
faces a dilemma -- Martians do not have fingerprints!
His problem is solved when he surreptitiously succeeds in
getting the fingerprints of a stranger on his application.
A few days later him finds himself shadowed by two men.
Enlisting Uncle Martin's help in reading minds, Tim learns
that the two men are detectives. The fingerprints on Martin's
application are the same as those found in connection with a
recent big jewel robbery, he is suspected of being the jewel
thief. Tim is suspected of being Martin's accomplice because
as a newspaperman he was present when the jewelry
disappeared.
An announcement appears in the papers that Mrs. Winthrop,
a social leader, is sponsoring a charity affair at which she
will wear her much publicized jewels. Martin believes that the
jewel thief, whose fingerprints are on his driver's license, will
attempt to steal Mrs. Winthrop's celebrated necklace.
Martin's conclusion proves correct: Brian Henley, the thief, does
appear at the charity affair and steals Mrs. Winthrop's necklace.
Henley is searched but he does not have the jewelry. Martin,
however, knows it is in the cap of Police Captain Farrow.
Martin exposes Henley by using his powers of levitation and
removes the necklace from the Captain's cap and drops it into
Henley's jacket pocket. Henley rids himself of the necklace but
it is returned to him in the next instant. Shaken and defeated,
Henley finds necklace clinging to his fingers.
