SYNOPSIS
Martin is looking forward eagerly to his return to Mars, now
that he has found a new silicon plastic material with which he hopes
to repair his damaged spaceship. His hopes get a rude setback,
however, when his craft disappears mysteriously from its accustomed
cache in Tim's garage.
Martin's first clue to the solution of the mystery comes from
Mrs. Brown, who grumbles about the inconsideration of a couple of
junkmen who had accidentally cleaned out Tim's garage instead of hers.
Since Mrs. Brown doesn't know who the junkmen are, Martin draws upon
his superior powers for help. He inquires of Mrs. Brown's dog, Boo-
Boo, if he can identify the junkmen. He can. The junkmen are named
Bruno and Mike... and they had a truck with a distinguishing white
wheel on the rear left side.
Locating that particular truck in a city as big as Los
Angeles is a problem, but Martin has Boo-Boo help. Boo-Boo is to
tell five of his friends what the truck looks like, and then have
each of them tell five friends, ad infinitum, until the whole city
is covered.
The chain message brings the information that the truck was
spotted going into a junkyard in San Pedro. Hurrying there, Martin
and Tim are informed by the yard manager that he had bought a toy
aircraft from Bruno and Mike and then sold it to a man named Carter,
the operator of a kiddieland amusement park.
At Carter's, Martin and Tim find the spacecraft serving as a
vehicle on one of the kid rides. Carter refuses to part with it, but
Martin uses his powers and before the astonished Carter and others
in the park, the spacecraft takes off suddenly and roars into space.
That night Martin has the craft back in Tim's garage, to pick up the
interrupted effort to repair it for the return trip to Mars.
