SYNOPSIS
Mars is out of her normal orbital path! Uncle Martin can make
it back to his planet! He has just ten hours! He sadly makes his
good-byes to Tim and starts down the stairs for the last time at
Tim's little apartment. A tear in Tim's eye, a pang in Martin's
heart, and BAM! Uncle Martin falls on his ... whatever it is a
Martian falls on when he falls down a flight of stairs. He insists
his ankle, bends his antennae, and loses his ability to disappear.
Mrs. Brown is totally insured. She's got Uncle Martin covered.
She calls an ambulance and Uncle Martin winds up in the hospital.
And he's lucky at that -- it should have been a mortuary -- after
all, he's got a 4 pulse, jungle drum for a heartbeat, and a
temperature that no thermometer can hold. And his time is running
out to return to Mars.
Dr. Rothman, the head doctor in the hospital, of course laughs at
Uncle Martin's medical report. He wisely realizes an intern
is... an intern. After one thing and another Martin is finally
trapped and must undergo Dr. Rothman's personal examination.
Uncle Martin changes places with Tim in the dark X-Ray room.
Tim's X-Ray becomes Uncle Martin's. Now he's being held in the
hospital to find out why a man of his age appears to be so young.
But it's getting better. The Gamma Rays have straightened out Uncle
Martin's bent antennae -- he can now disappear, and that's what he
does. Invisibly, he makes his way down the corridor, accidentally
into the maternity ward, but finally out of the hospital.
Back home once again. Two hours left. A sad goodbye. BAM! He
falls down the stairs. It happens all over again. There's no time
left. Uncle Martin. to his sadness, but to all of our Earth joys, is
trapped still in the land of us.
